Critic Reviews for Witcheye
With Witcheye's original gameplay and striking monsters, you'll have to keep your eyes peeled for new ways to overcome each challenge. With a fairly short runtime, this game is great for flying through on a lazy afternoon, or coming back to if you want to 100% the game.
Witcheye is a quirky platformer with an innovative movement system, and it's well worth playing if you're after a fresh, bite-size handheld-focused experience. Removed from its mobile context, however, it doesn't quite have the necessary tactile appeal to overcome the game's relative lack of depth. Fun as it is, this is one mobile port that doesn't feel perfectly at home on Switch.
Witcheye is fun, and it’s cute, and it’s got some great visuals and a cool control system. I think it’s the perfect game to vibe to something else with, which is a type of experience that everyone with a short attention span like me needs.
All in all, Witcheye is a cute little platformer. Its movement mechanic can be a little annoying at times, but overall it is a nice change of pace from what you would expect from others in the genre. Though short and simple due to its mobile origins, there's a lot of extra content to unlock to add to the replayability if you feel inclined to keep going. Even if you don't though, for the price, Witcheye could certainly do a lot worse.
Witcheye is one of those games that lives and dies on how much you love its quirk. The controls take some getting used to, and it is frustrating to see yourself miss on some easy gems while you're learning things. Once you get everything down, you'll find the game to be pretty short but very enjoyable. Considering how cheap the title is, fans of non-traditional platformers shouldn't be afraid to try Witcheye.
Moon Kid's Witcheye is a very fun, unique twist on the platformer genre, but it could also be described as a one-trick pony. Based around a single gimmick, the gameplay gradually wears thin over the course of its brief length. And truth be told, the unique controls won't be everyone's cup of tea. However, Witcheye is still a very solid recommendation if you're seeking a kid-friendly, Halloween-themed game to play this October.
Witcheye is a solid game and it makes for a fun time whenever you want a quick fix of unconventional and challenging 2D gameplay.
Witcheye uses an unusual concept in a creative title. Controlling a witch transformed into a floating eye is intuitive, and there are many interesting moments throughout the journey. Combat, in particular, is highlighted because of the diversity of enemies and situations, which resemble small puzzles. The play sessions are agile because of the short stages and the fast pace, but sometimes the simplicity and problems with the controls are annoying. In the end, Witcheye is a brief, unique and fun experience, even if not very memorable.
