If it weren’t for the prevalence of strange control issues, Monster Hunter Stories on PC would be an easy recommendation for fans of Pokémon or other creature-based RPGs. Without those issues, it is a charming and smart RPG with some fun, unique ideas and smart design.
Overall, Homeworld 3 takes an admirable approach to keeping what worked previously in the series and adding to it in smart and meaningful ways. The modernization of the series has yielded amazing benefits that make it feel like the definitive Homeworld experience unless you are looking to go back and experience the whole story for yourself.
It is hard to discern just who South Park: Snow Day! is for. Diehard South Park fans will not get much out of its lackluster references and lack of new ideas for the franchise. Meanwhile, those who care more about playing a fun game won’t find the mechanical complexity that can be found in previous franchise RPGs.
WWE 2k24‘s attempt to appeal to all of its possible audiences is an admirable goal. It is disappointing though how that effort leaves its various elements feeling either disconnected from one another or generally under-baked.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden continues Don’t Nod’s recent success with a gripping new experience. While its combat isn’t anything groundbreaking, the world that it transports players to and the story that it tells within it are well worth checking out.
Sovereign Syndicate utilizes its pacing to gradually pull the curtain back on a world filled to the brim with character and detail. It allows its story to be delicately planned and comes together brilliantly while setting up possible sequels. I for one, will be extremely excited to return to the world of Sovereign Syndicate if any of those sequels come to fruition.
Whether playing alone or with friends, 'Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy' keeps the series alive while sprinkling in gorgeous visuals and some fun additions.
"Let's! Revolution!" is a beautiful blend of "Minesweeper" and roguelite mechanics, but is missing the overall "wow" factor of a memorable experience.
Even with its slightly convoluted story, "Exoprimal" offers a unique and enjoyable experience with its blend of elements from different genres.
"Aliens: Dark Descent" packs a powerful punch that gives fans and newcomers something to love with this latest entry into the "Alien" catalog of video games.
Despite the slightly confusing name, "Layers of Fear" is a beautiful remake that can be enjoyed by horror fans and series newcomers alike.
Minecraft Legends Review: A Few Blocks Short
Rather than greatly expanding the scope of the original, "Episode 2" refines its visuals and gives fans more of what they loved about the original game.
With Dead Island 2’s development history, it is a pleasant surprise to see the game release in as complete and stable of a state as it is. It ran flawlessly on Xbox Series X and looked beautiful to boot, especially its incredible new gore system. While it may not deliver the interesting stories or new concepts of its genre contemporaries, its sharp humor and satisfying combat help make up for it.
"Pokémon Stadium" still holds up on Nintendo Switch, and is still well worth checking out for fans of the series and newcomers alike.
Some fans will surely miss the roguelike structure of the original, but for fans looking to further explore its world or to spend more time in the game’s splendid combat, Everspace 2 delivers in spades.
There is fun to be found in "Crime Boss," but its issues bog down the experience enough to keep it from keeping you invested for very long.
"Resident Evil 4 Remake" is the strongest of the modern remakes in the franchise, staying pure to the heart of the game while modernizing it for 2023.
Octopath Traveler 2's changes manage to uphold what made the first game enjoyable, while adding some new bells and whistles to make it feel like a step forward.
It is no exaggeration to say that Company of Heroes 3 is a triumph of the RTS genre…It offers an amazingly deep strategic experience, fantastic onboarding for newcomers, and plenty of content to keep fans playing for dozens of hours.
