Dive-roll into it today.
But quibbles aside, Fez is brilliant.
If you can spare the time - play it.
It's a joyous marvel of game design, and one of the very, very few straight-up 2D platformers out there with a solid claim to Mario's crown.
It's very easy to dismiss the whimsical art style, collecting and platforming as a game for kids, but dig a little deeper and you'll find a lot to like about Swap Force. Skylanders will be an influential series in years to come and successfully combines real world collectables with a fantastic platformer to deliver a rich and engaging experience.
If you're a Battlefield fan, this purchase is a given, but even the smaller, faster-paced modes give Call of Duty a run for its money on its FPS formula.
The shortform point in all of this is "if you love Call of Duty, you'll find some value here, but not nearly as bolstered as it ought to be at this point", if you're on the fence though, it's a hard stretch for me to recommend this fully.
Hit the road and make it your own, just a word of caution, I'll be out there to, gunning for you.
Whoever designed the menu system needs to be benched, and if they're serious about telling a dramatic Hoops story they need to hire a few dozen more voice actors, but everything else sells the sport of basketball like no other game before.
It seems that for all their focus on recreating how a person drives, they lost sight of why.
That alone is quite magical.
Even the most stalwart, traditionalist series fan should be able to appreciate A Link Between Worlds for what it is: the most interesting new Zelda game since Wind Waker.
The almighty power of 'what could have been' is difficult to ignore when the Ryse formula works, but in its current form it's difficult to recommend as a must-own Xbox One title, despite the clear potential that regularly bubbles above the surface.
From a technical standpoint, Dead Rising 3 is not the pinnacle of how a next-gen game should look (or perform), but from an expanded gameplay perspective, and one of pure fun, it's my favourite launch title among the lot. Hopefully we see a patch or two over the coming weeks to attempt to fix some of the mechanical problems with the game.
The game is at odds with itself for not being as inventive as it should be, but being so good because of all invention that's come before it. Mario, in this sense, is his own worst enemy.
As it is, it's still a sterling shooter that shows off the potential of the PS4's powerful hardware, and an easy recommendation for PS4 owners looking for their futuristic shooter fix.
The casual gaming market Peggle occupied at release has come such a long way that Peggle 2 can't help but feel a little stale.
We won't know for sure just how effective the set-up here was until the full season is complete sometime next year, but as it stands right now, we're totally on board.
When it comes to longevity, that old chestnut of "you get out of it what you put in" applies. Don't Starve has some pretty cool things to discover, from useful to useless, such as protective suits, darts, a dapper vest, gunpowder, a bird cage and heaps more. Everything you gain may not be permanent, but if you're savvy enough there are ways to insure that your delicate time in each world is backed up.
It's not the kind of game that will be remembered down the track, but in the here and now it's filling a certain gap in the One's line-up more than adequately.
