Critic Reviews for Dead Rising Triple Pack

The bottom line is if you haven’t played any three of these games, this is the best looking console version to date, and these enduring zombie-smashing games are still worth a playthrough. Outside of that, there’s nothing new in this Triple Pack to draw old Frank West fans back to experience the chaos again before he returns in Dead Rising 4 this December.

Dead Rising Triple Pack is a great remastered version of the original videogames. Their graphics are smoother and with a better resolution, thus creating a better version.

If you haven't played the original Dead Rising games this is your best chance to do it. But this remaster doesn't do nothing new that makes it deserve the attention of experienced Dead Rising players.

Dead Rising Triple Pack is a great way for those who have never played these games to dive in and see what all the fuss is about, but it might not be quite enough to warrant those who have already played them to take the double dip. Still, these 3 games are capable of offering dozens upon dozens of hours of zombie-mutilating fun and this package is the definitive way to experience them.

While I enjoy the arcade flavor of gameplay with high score chases and B-movie acting, all three Dead Rising games are not suited for the current generation. Zombies are played out, well beyond their shelf life and now devoid of any interesting storytelling. Beyond the zombie genre, the loading times and hard save system can’t help but show this series’ age. Some off-the-wall characters keep things engaging, as does the curiosity of seeing what weapons are most effective against crowds, but overall they are best left as fond memories than contemporary experiences.

Clocking in at the cost of a full modern game, Dead Rising Triple Pack is still a fantastic value. Yes, each of the games have their own unique quirks, but that “je ne sais quoi,” is what helped endear the series to millions of fans, worldwide. The sheer volume of quality content being provided makes it an extremely generous offering, especially for those that don’t have these titles already in their collection. Finally, Capcom was able to put their brain-dead re-release strategy to good use!

Sure, there’s some choice mechanics that don’t hold up, especially in the first game, but for the price, fans of the series or people looking to try this series out for the first time will get a lot for their money.

It may show its age in places, but the core of the original Dead Rising has not become rotten in the past decade. A shame then the same cannot quite be said of its successors.
