Critic Reviews for Disney DuckTales Remastered
More rehashed than remastered, your childhood might be better served holding onto old memories rather than making new ones.
DuckTales isn't as good as you remember, but Remastered is a fairly faithful version of Capcom's classic NES game.
Don't let the cartoony graphics and Disney branding fool you. DuckTales: Remastered is a challenging platformer that's absolutely brimming with charm. The campaign may be short and indicative of its source material, but it has been updated in a way that makes the experience feel fresh and guarantee that you'll be back for more. Are you a fan of the original DuckTales game or the animated series? Download this game immediately. Have you never played, watched, or even heard of DuckTales? Download this game immediately, and then tell all of your friends to do the same. They'll thank you for it later.
I can't see many people who grew up only knowing what a virtual gun is accepting the shortness and difficulty curve of DuckTales Remastered. Modern gaming is different, so I feel that this is for fans that loved Scrooge McDuck's worldwide adventure.
If you were a fan of the NES original, DuckTales: Remastered is the definition of a must-own title. The game faithfully recreates the NES original while sprucing up the visuals, modernizing the music quality and even adding a couple new levels.
I sincerely hope WayForward gets the opportunity to remaster DuckTales 2 in the near future.
Whilst not perfect, DuckTales: Remastered stays faithful to the NES original and its gameplay mechanics, with the exception of forced collectibles and prolonging levels with cut-scenes. Fans of the show will be pleased to know that Alan Young has reprised his role as Scrooge McDuck and he still does a fantastic job at it, despite being much older now. For fans of the classic that like the inclusion of full voice acting and don't mind exploring every inch of a level to gather items required to progress, definitely check this out. However, for those that didn't like the NES version of DuckTales and despise the unforgiving difficulty of retro titles, steer clear of this remaster.
