Players can expect a good amount content to release for DOOM Eternal next year.
On Twitter, developer id Software posted an end of the year letter to the fans of DOOM Eternal. They first and foremost thanked the community for their dedication. They also state that while they are disappointed in the delays of certain features for the game, they are proud of the work that has been released. They then look forward to next year, promising new content for the fast-paced shooter.
"Looking ahead to next year, we remain ambitious," reads the letter. "Our second DOOM Eternal expansion, The Ancient Gods - Part Two, will deliver an epic culmination of the story we started way back with DOOM (2016), so we can't wait for you to experience all that we have packed into that. In addition to updates like full next-gen support, Switch campaign expansions and other general additions and improvements, our roadmap for next year also represents a commitment to provide more ways to enjoy DOOM Eternal with your friends. Work continues on our Invasion mode, as well as BATTLEMODE additions like new maps, playable demons and a re-vamped competitive structure...
"As we often say, we have the best fans in gaming and we couldn't do what we do without your reinforcement and enthusiasm. From everyone at our studio and our Bethesda publishing teams around the world, thank you! We can't wait to see, talk, and play with you in 2021."
DOOM Eternal was released for the Nintendo Switch earlier this month. The game was supposed to have a physical release, but ended up becoming a digital only title. The Switch version of the game features gyroscopic controls, and includes the game's multiplayer mode. The game's first expansion, The Ancient Gods - Part 1, will be coming to the Switch version of the game at a later date.
DOOM Eternal is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.
