The Nintendo Switch port for DOOM Eternal has finally been given a release date.
Nintendo has dropped a release date trailer for the Switch version of DOOM Eternal. According to the trailer, the game will release for Nintendo's console on December 8th. The game will be digital only when it releases, and will take up 18.8 GB of space on the console. The title's first DLC expansion, The Ancient Gods: Part One will release for the Switch version of DOOM Eternal at a later date. According to a FAQ for the game, this version of DOOM Eternal will feature optional gyroscopic controls, and will include the game's multiplayer mode.
It was recently revealed that there will no longer be a physical edition of DOOM Eternal for the Switch. It was being reported that pre-orders of the physical edition of the game were being cancelled. Bethesda put out an announcement that the Switch version of the title is aiming for a digital only release, and that those who pre-ordered the physical editions should be receiving a full refund for their cancelled orders.
DOOM Eternal's first DLC expansion, The Ancient Gods: Part One, was released in October. The expansion picks up where the story of the base game left off. When the DOOM Slayer brought down the Khan Maykr, it left an imbalance of power that now threatens all of creation. Now the DOOM Slayer has to battle his way back to Urdak in order to once again determine the fate of the cosmos. The Ancient Gods: Part One is available now as a part of DOOM Eternal's Season Pass, which can be purchased for $29.99. The expansion can be bought on its own for $19.99. The Ancient Gods: Part One includes new features, new enemies, and new ways to execute them.
DOOM Eternal is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game will come to the Nintendo Switch on December 8th. The game is on the way for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The title will feature a free next-gen upgrade for those who purchase one of the new consoles.
