From my time as a player of Princess Maker 2: Regeneration, it is impossible to not notice those features of the game, but I would still deem it to be a game worth your time. It is a proper look back at titles of the past and Japanese pop culture. The game itself is addictive and poses to be a challenge many players would not be expecting unless they are already familiar with the franchise. A fix here and there would have gone a long way for this remaster, nonetheless, it was a very memorable gaming experience for me which I will not forget anytime soon.
For those who like rogue-lite games with rapid action and well-considered choices, The Land Beneath Us is a great choice. While it is unable to innovate in many areas, its mechanical execution is still top-notch. The plot and presentation are adequate, but not particularly noteworthy when contrasted with other games in the genre.
There does not appear to be much more I can say about Zenless Zone Zero other than to reiterate my views on topics on which many people agree since it has only recently been released and has limited material that will be expanded upon in future updates. Because of my own tastes and expectations, I found the experience to be insufficient. Still, if Hoyoverse wishes for the fans of their previous games to deeply care about this newly released one, they should consider changing things quite a bit.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak is yet another contemporary classic. Starting a fresh storyline after four games in a row and a reunion sequel is hardly an easy task, but Nihon Falcom pulled it off well. Even while the LGC alignment method is brilliant, it might be too ambitious, and engagement could suffer due to the lack of difficulty in battle. In any case, the following titles may address these concerns. Though longtime and new fans of The Legend of Heroes will certainly find unique change in almost every imaginable area of The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak.
In the context of firsthand retellings of personal life stories, Until Then shines as an excellent example of using every clever advantage an interactive storytelling medium can use. Employing a charming art style and witty writing that feels just right, within its 6 to 8-hour playtime let yourself be transported to a bygone era where everything felt more easygoing yet catastrophic at the same time.
Noreya: The Gold Project is a lovingly made Metroidvania that does indeed stand out from the countless other titles of this genre that come out each year. With its cool mechanics, interesting ideas, beautiful visuals, and an endgame that makes you feel like a badass, Noreya: The Gold Project is a solid Metroidvania that reminded me of my early days of gaming and it is a game that should not be overlooked.
Slay the Princess stands out from the crowd because of its original take on the game story, which rejects the status quo and embraces innovation. Make sure you have enough time and interest in visual novels to the point where you can complete the game.
Blockbuster Inc. is a great business management sim for both players new to business management simulators and veterans looking for something more relaxing. There is a lot to do and build in the game that will keep you busy for hours on end.
Whether you’re a seasoned Soulsborne veteran or a newcomer to FromSoftware’s brand of challenging yet rewarding gameplay, Shadow of the Erdtree is an expansion that should not be missed. It really expands upon Lands Between established while preserving the sense of wonder and discovery that feels so important in Elden Ring. Shadow of the Erdtree sets a new standard for what a DLC can achieve and I believe this is FromSoftware’s greatest work yet.
Republic of Pirates is amazing and the level of detail along with the artwork for the characters and the story itself are quite unique and fun to explore. The characters have their own unique looks and vibes that just make the game more and more appealing. So go give it a try, it’s definitely worth it, especially if you like to manage cities and battle it out with other cutthroat pirates.
With the various new party members, you can get through Demon Fusion, you’ll be able to repeatedly smash those demons together. Even if you’ve played the original, you should give this a second go because of all the new features and enhancements that boost the game’s quality. Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is also an excellent starting point for anyone unfamiliar with the series or even this particular game.
Nine Sols is an excellent game that is a must-play for all Metroidvania fans and is seriously worth considering for those who are new to this genre. Its precise and satisfying combat, breathtaking art direction, and stellar story make it a worthwhile experience. The high difficulty and unique bosses make it incredibly replayable as well. This game is not just a perfect homage to the games it takes from, but it is its own unique concept as well due to its design, cultural representation and gameplay.
While Astor: Blade of the Monolith is well designed and the characters are colorful, the soundtrack is great but the combat system is easy compared to other Adventure RPGs. It’s a great game with potential that unfortunately feels a little undone in terms of story and character development.
Detractors of horror entertainment condemn video games such as The Exorcist: Legion Exorcist: Legion as celebrating the devil. It is understandable to fear the unknown, but when rendered with so much care as is the case here, it is worth considering giving in to curiosity and trying one of the scariest PSVR2 experiences to date. Maybe banishing demons was always your calling.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is definitely worth a try, mainly due to its brand-new, ultra-realistic combat design and mechanics, and the mixture of simple and challenging puzzles. Not to mention, the unbelievably realistic visuals that’ll blow your mind. However, don’t expect an amazingly written storyline to follow. Plus, once again, it’s on Xbox Game Pass, so there’s no harm in seeing it for yourself.
Empty Head Games did a fine job being able to deliver Saviorless with some interesting gameplay elements. They may not be revolutionary for the genre but do add some freshness to it. The protagonist not able to engage in combat and skillfully lure enemies to traps is a unique touch. It’s not an expensive game, so anyone who enjoys platformers can give Saviorless a try.
Terra Memoria is a fun turn-based RPG with six playable characters, each with their own unique looks and skills. Terra Memoria tells a unique story of a world with interesting issues and some crazy inhabitants and features a few satisfying things to do such as battling, crafting, and cooking. It is a game well worth giving a shot.
The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication scares are definitely scary, although it would be wise to take a break now and then as constant playing can make things quite stressful. The game is really worth giving a chance, the tension, the story, and the character details along with the voice acting really set The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication up there with other horror masterpieces.
The goal of Crow Country is to enjoy the story it has to tell, shoot some zombies, and come out of the experience like you just came out fresh of your time machine. If this fits the bill for you, then by all means go back to the 90s and relive those exciting moments where the only worries you had were how much more time you had to play before bedtime. Perhaps that joyful feeling video games used to give you could come back once more.
With its endless possibilities of different runs and expansive lore, Heading Out is worthy of your try. The game might be just hard to grasp right out of the gate, but since it gives the player a lot of chances to redeem themselves, getting used to Heading Out takes a bit of time and that is completely fine. While it might not fulfill your needs for an action-packed roguelike game, the narrative aspects of it will surely deliver some quality time. Definitely worthy of a checkout if you are a fan of both roguelikes and driving games.
