Critic Reviews for Lumines Remastered
Lumines can still pull you helplessly into its block-swapping, rhythm-matching heaven.
The original, and arguably the best, version of Lumines returns, with another artful mix of music, graphics, and puzzle gameplay.
Lumines makes the jump to current-gen platforms looking and sounding better than ever.
Lumines didn't need to reinvent the wheel for its remaster as it already had its base down pat. If you already own it you likely don't need to revisit it on a modern machine as the re-release doesn't really add anything you haven't seen before, but this is a great way to discover the magic for the first time.
If you're a fan of puzzle games, rhythm games, or just chilling out with a game that gives more than it demands, I heartily recommend Lumines Remastered. It's a great addition to the Switch library and an excellent starting point for those who have never experienced the franchise before.
14 years after its initial release, Lumines Remastered keeps being an unique puzzle in some ways, from its gameplay simplicity to its wonderful sountrack... The remastered has it's own flaws, like the absence of new modes or the long loading times (even when retrying a challenge), Beyond that, as a classic, it's still a very enjoyable puzzle.

Having the original Lumines soundtrack on modern consoles is a nostalgia trip for fans of the 14-year-old PSP puzzler, but the core block-dropping gameplay hasn't aged a day. It's still just as addictive now as it was back then, but it's a shame that as a remaster it ignores some of the game modes introduced in later games. As remasters go, Lumines is impeccable, but then it was always going to be.
