Honestly though, nothing about this game was bad. For fans of camp you'll find something to enjoy here as you would a B-Movie. However there's nothing here I can recommend that I wouldn't be able to recommend something better instead.
So bottom line, I became a bit addicted to the digging and gathering aspects of the game, and that's fine because it's a quality title. I have issues with the music looping at almost weird intervals when the music goes dead for minutes before starting back up, but that's pretty much my only complaint. If you're like me and have some strange affinity for tunnel building, then 5/5 for this game. However, if you're just a person that wants to enjoy a quality video game with a pretty fun, if repetitive game mechanic, interesting story, quality production, then Super Motherload is a game that should easily be worth checking out. I just can't guarantee you'll get the same obsessive streak I found myself developing.
Vanquish is a fun, dumb game that feels good to play when you get into a zone. If you're a fan of Escape From New York or other B-grade action films, Vanquish will appeal to you as well. While I wish that Vanquish would let me fully indulge in the many joys the game has to offer, budget and time added roadblocks to the experience. For 20 dollars, I can certainly recommend this to new players or true fans of the original. But if you didn't like Vanquish the first go-around, there's not a lot here other than a prettier looking version of the same game from the previous generation consoles.
No More Heroes 3 is an amusing but extremely uneven sequel, with its entertaining bosses separated mostly by poor performance and barebones tedium.
Risk of Rain is a fantastically deep roguelike that excels at offering you opportunities for success but only if you're willing to take them for yourself. It's really amazing how balanced this game feels despite its difficulty. And did I mention the soundtrack? Gorgeous ambient-techno makes this game more akin to Metroid Prime crossed with Binding of Isaac and if that doesn't sound like the best thing ever, I don't know what else to tell you.
Samurai Gunn is surprisingly deep and a lot of strategy is mixed in with twitch reflexes, much like a sophisticated fighting game. However, the lack of game modes, serious decrease in enjoyment as a solo game, and some technical issues hold back this otherwise immensely fun game. If you can grab a couple friends and get controllers working, Samurai Gunn can make for an enjoyable night.
I liked Constant C. It's an immensely polished game that deserves your attention if only to enjoy a unique puzzle experience. Luckily, the humorous story is definitely worth the entry price and if that's not enough, the soundtrack was a constant highlight throughout the game. But what really makes Constant C special is just enjoyable the sci-fi characters are and how humorously alive the whole world feels. From your robot protagonist to the characters you meet along the way, this is sci-fi closer to Portal than 2001 and that's always my personal preference.
Cloudbuilt is a genre hybridization of a game that works on almost every level, and if you're looking for something new, look no further.
Not since Duncan Jones' Moon have I been this giddy about a science-fiction story that so expertly plays around with the genre, especially in dealing with artificial intelligence. I am in awe and eagerly anticipating the later episodes with much excitement.
Ether One is another in a string of successful first-person narrative games, and, while it has its dips here and there, is a completely worthwhile journey. The game explores some dark corners of mental health through its H.G. Wells-like setting and succeeds in delivering a graphically rich, story-driven adventure wholly worth your time.
The sense of fear and terror when playing Resident Evil 2 never leaves you. It's unlike anything else I've encountered in a Resident Evil game previously. I'm just going to go ahead and call it: Resident Evil 2 is the best Resident Evil game in the franchise and represents a series and developer at its peak. Don't be distracted by the pretty graphics and gore, Resident Evil 2 is straight-up dangerous.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty completes an immense turnaround for CD Projekt Red's future RPG kickstarted with the anime spinoff, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and its latest 2.0 Update.
