Capcom has today revealed the winter roadmap for the publisher's best-selling game of all-time, Monster Hunter World. The game will receive new and free content, including limited-time events, new cosmetics, and two major corssovers with two other franchises. The first, with Resident Evil, was announced earlier but more details have been revealed. Curiously only referred to as the Raccoon City collaboration, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will welcome Leon, Claire, and Tyrant from Resident Evil 2.
The limited-time event kicks off today, November 7. Upon completing the quest, which requires a level of MR20 or higher, players will acquire materials used to craft Leon α+ and Claire α+ layered armor sets, in addition to earning three Raccoon City pendants to use with their weapons. Other rewards that await players include two zombie-like gestures and themed decor for Your Room, the in-game customizable space. You'll even be able to place a typewriter in your resting place and save the game. Available for purchase alongside this free event is Tyrant attire for the Handler. No end date was mentioned for the event.
PlayStation 4 players will also gain access to a second big crossover later this month, as Horizon: Zero Dawn comes to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Fittingly, Guerrila's own icy expansion pack, The Frozen Wilds, will be the focus of this PS4-exclusive event. Beginning on November 21, players who are level MR24 or over may earn materials to craft a Light Bowgun based on Aloy’s Stormslinger Prototype. An Aloy-inspired pendant will also be available during the event.
In December, a free game update will introduce a new monster to the world of Iceborne in addition to a slew of other free content, such as the return of seasonal fests, the return of nearly all previously released event quests, limited bounties for special items and more. The Horizon: Zero Dawn collaboration will then continue with new content including more event quests, the Shield-Weaver and Banuk armor sets, and quests to help you level up the Stormslinger, Aloy's bow, and the Felyne Watcher which came to Monter Hunter World in a previous collaboration.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne launched on PS4 and Xbox One on September 9 of this year to glowing reviews, including a Mighty 91 average and 100% of critics recommending it across 74 reviews here on OpenCritic. The wintry expansion arrives on PC early next year.
