Following the 2020 launch of Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Moon Studios will shift to making a new action RPG. That comes according to a job listing by the company first seen on Gamasutra.
"After redefining the Metroidvania genre with the Ori series, our next goal is to revolutionize the ARPG genre." As has been the case for years, the company works totally remotely, so the job is available to applicants all over the world. The role is officially titled Senior Desiger.
Most interestingly, under qualifications, Moon states they're looking for applicants who are passionate and has "a love for all things Diablo, Zelda, Dark Souls and other games in the genre."
Moon Studios' debut game, Ori and the Blind Forest, launched on March 11, 2015 to extremely favorable reviews as a Microsoft-published game for Xbox and PC. It earned an 89 average on OpenCritic with 96% of the 82 reviewers recommending the game for play.
Five years to the day of their debut launch, on March 11, 2020, Moon will launch their follow-up, Ori and the Will of the Wisps. The game remains an exclusive to Microsoft platforms and will launch day-and-date into Game Pass when it hits retail. Such is the case for all Xbox Game Studios releases since March of last year when the new policy began with the launch of Sea of Thieves.
However, it should be noted that Moon Studios is not a Microsoft-owned company -- at least, not yet. The two have worked closely together for years in a manner that mirrors studios like Playground Games and Undead Labs, both of which have recently been acquired by Microsoft, but for now, Moon can presumably work as a multiplatform studio. It's not yet known whether their action RPG will remain a Microsoft exclusive or if it will be found on other platforms as well.
