Critic Reviews for Mordhau
Mordhau's deep melee combat system creates moments of gory multiplayer medieval magic.
High skill cap melee combat is equally rewarding and daunting, though the archery and support roles could use some work.
If you can push past the steep learning curve, Mordhau's brand of chaos is addictive and hilarious
Steel meets flesh in this violent but refined take on large-scale medieval combat.
In the end, Mordhau is a goofy yet realistic medieval combat game that caters to a ton of different players. Many will grind games in order to best perfect their skills with their favorite weapon. Then there's me, who literally runs around the battlefield playing a musical instrument that adds absolutely zero gameplay value to the team. That's the beauty of Mordhau -- the individual moments tend to outweigh any of the design flaws or technical glitches that are present.
MORDHAU exhibits flashes of brilliance, but the console port of this four year-old medieval multiplayer game is marred by combat that feels inelegant and dull on a controller.
Even with the struggles over the last week, the launch of Mordhau has clearly been a success for Triternion and players alike. Even as horrible as I am at the combat it is impossible to deny the melee fighting is a welcome reprieve from the usual first-person shooter or Diablo-esque hack-n-slash combat. The dev team seems intent on keeping the community updated on issues as they arise, and they have already announced they will be adding more content to the game.Score: 9.0
Mordhau is mechanically deep, brutally fun, and encourages experimentation.
