Critic Reviews for PAC-MAN Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs
Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs successfully manages to put a new twist on classic Pac-Man gameplay, with ideas like invading other players' mazes that make it a fresh experience. The problem is that it arrives sparse with content and without offline modes, which shorten the party more than expected.

Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle is a nice experiment that turns an iconic saga into a battle royale, even if some gameplay mechanics don't fit well with Tōru Iwatani's original concept.

At a price of 19.99 euros on all platforms -29.99 in its deluxe version with various skins and motifs for the maze- Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs offers an interesting gameplay but with ups and downs, becoming in the end a game that will make you spend good times between one activity and another, but does not contain the high doses of pique and wanting to keep playing that made us spend coin after coin in the arcade machines of the 80s.

We would only ever recommend Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs to Pac-Man diehards at its launch price point. In fact, given the fate of its Pac-Man 99 forebear, we would be hesitant to open our wallets for it at all, because we doubt it will have much longevity if it isn't eventually made free-to-play. Though it introduces a cool idea or two, multiplayer Pac-Man was done better by its predecessors and, as it stands, its price tag is tough to justify.
Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle is an interesting way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of everyone's favorite yellow muncher, but the asking price and lack of content might turn off some interested fans. However, with some added updates and patches, it has the potential to be one of the more engaging battle royale titles.
A novel concept is unfortunately lost in a muddle of confused mechanics and cheap presentation that makes me question exactly why this foregone Stadia game even made the jump to major platforms. Where I managed to have some small fun on the virtue of this still being the PAC-MAN we know and love, I found myself quickly wanting to reinstall other versions of the game. Given that this isn't even the first instance of a PAC-MAN battle royale, I'm sad that this didn't manage to emerge as a worthwhile competitor.
Developing a Battle Royale in step with the times starting from the gameplay of Pac-Man, released in 1980, without distorting its nature, must have been really difficult. PAC-MAN Mega Tunnel Battle Chomp Champs partially succeeds, offering a very interesting formula in the first game sessions, which little by little reveals all the limits, without additional modes to keep the enthusiasm alive. In a couple of hours you can see everything the video game offers, after which it is only a matter of time before the fun starts to wane. If you're looking for fast-paced and colorful competitive multiplayer, however, it might be for you.

PAC-MAN Mega Tunnel Battle is a remarkably entertaining modern twist on what is perhaps the most beloved game of all time. This game manages to retain the fun of old school PAC-MAN, while adding in an extra layer of tension and strategy to the mix by letting players invade each other's games. Brilliant idea, and fun game.
