Critic Reviews for Hyperspace Delivery Service
So much wasted potential that would do well by taking notes from From Other Suns.
Hyperspace Delivery Service is a charming, retro-inspired experience.
When my Security officer died due to a series of horrible dice rolls that seemed to specifically have it out for him, I found myself simply frustrated. At the same time, for many those random notices that a member of your crew injured himself will prove nostalgic for simpler times of gaming. This won't be for everyone, but if you've missed this era of video games, Hyperspace Delivery Service is a fairly fresh take on the genre.
It’s hard to recommend for someone not pick up a game, but Hyperspace Delivery Service is definitely one that’s for a very, very niche market. The concept of resource management blending into Doom gameplay is interesting. Unfortunately, the execution just doesn’t work.
Hyperspace Delivery Service really manages to nail the old-school vibe with its presentation, whilst the simple yet enjoyable gameplay mechanics ensure that your space-delivering adventure is fun. It’s just a shame that it could feel a bit repetitive in design, whilst the random (and unfortunate) events you face could get a little tedious too. Those who fancy a classic space adventure will certainly get a lot out of the game though and it does feel like a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch. Just expect to need a bit of patience and a lot of luck to survive Hyperspace Delivery Service’s many challenges.
