Despite its simplicity, Tricky Taps: Complete Edition has enough variety and a well-crafted design to provide a quick, enjoyable gaming experience. It’s a great game for those moments when you have a coffee or tea break and want something to pick up and play.

Although it relies heavily on fetch quests, Bandle Tale’s progression layers and delightful dialogue guarantee it stays captivating and cosy throughout.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong’s simplicity makes it perfect for quick gaming sessions during quiet moments. Plus, with the new 2-Player mode, you can enjoy the fun with a friend. It’s well-designed, and the different mechanics and level themes keep it from getting boring. Even though it’s not trying to do too much, Mario vs. Donkey Kong is still a charming game that offers a break from more complicated puzzles, a throwback to simpler times and a joy to play.

The Lost Legends of Redwall: The Scout Anthology delivers an engaging adventure set in the world of Redwall. Despite minor issues, such as misleading optional quests and occasional technical glitches I encountered, the game’s storytelling has beautifully illustrated cutscenes and an enchanting soundtrack. While players prone to motion sickness should be cautious due to the camera positioning, overall, it should appeal to fans of the Redwall universe and newcomers alike.

God of Light: Remastered offers an enjoyable puzzle adventure for players seeking an illuminating experience on the Nintendo Switch. If you’re a fan of relaxing yet challenging physics puzzlers, you will probably enjoy God of Light: Remastered. However, bear in mind this is a game that costs £1.99 on the Apple App Store with touch controls versus the same game on the Nintendo Switch minus touchscreen controls. The choice is yours, of course, but I know which system I’d play it on.

Can of Wormholes is a brilliant puzzle game, and the help system, Game Insights, is well thought out. It is pretty impressive just how far the idea of moving a worm into a hole has been extended. Overall, it results in very innovative mechanics throughout the gameplay and Can of Wormholes proved to be a very pleasant gaming surprise.

Liked-a-lot - CLeM
Feb 6, 2024

All in all, I had a good time playing CLeM, and I liked reading about and checking out the drawings on alchemy, insects, and other creepy crawlies in the notebook. The house is full of interactive environments to explore. If you enjoy these types of adventure games, then CLeM has a desolate, abandoned house to explore and lots of questions to answer with mysteries to decipher, and you, too, can find out the story behind CLeM.

Overall, Boxes: Lost Fragments is a fantastic puzzler; the only complaint I have, which isn’t really a complaint, is that I wish the game was longer. I was disappointed to be finished with the game after six hours of gameplay. I enjoyed it very much. If you enjoy these kinds of puzzle games, then Boxes: Lost Fragments will tick that box for you.

Liked-a-lot - The Universim
Jan 23, 2024

In ways, The Universim reminds me of Populous and Black and White god games. One thing is clear the developers have put their heart and soul into the game. While not everything is perfect I’ve enjoyed playing The Universim. Furthermore, with the procedurally generated worlds, no two playthroughs will be the same in The Universim, so there is lots of replayability

Super Mario Bros Wonder is a great game for all; the wonder effects and the singing Piranha Plants are the highlights for me. It’s a game that has something for everybody: longtime fans, more casual players, and even non-gamers may be impressed with the gameplay.

While I didn’t struggle too much with the puzzles, I can see where a hint system would be an improvement, especially to attract more casual gamers who might pick The Pedestrian up and then get frustrated quickly and miss out on this unique game. For puzzle fans, if you take The Pedestrian for a walk, you will find that the best puzzle games are the ones that make you feel really smart for figuring them out, and The Pedestrian has many puzzles that will give you that eureka moment and make you feel like a genius!

Overall, Railway Islands 2 – Puzzle is a minimalist game; the puzzles are fun while they last and offer a challenge. However, if you are looking for new mechanics in a puzzle game, you won’t find them here, as it doesn’t offer anything we haven’t seen in many puzzle games before

A Highland Song is beautiful and heartwarming; it feels like you are in the highlands of Scotland that’s immersed in the area’s culture. A’body should play this game, enjoy Moira’s thoughts, and skedaddle aff over the auld highlands. A Highland Song is a wee belter of a game and one of the best games I’ve played this year when Moira and I saw the sea.

SteamWorld Build is a delightful game where you always work towards interesting goals. The combination of city building and mining work in tandem together extremely well. It’s a brilliant pairing of opposites, from the bright sunshine on the surface to popping into the mine, which is dank and dark, with the SteamWorld aesthetic tying it all together.

Overall, if you are a keen fan of the Harry Potter universe, you will likely enjoy Hogwarts Legecy on the Nintendo Switch. What I like the most is walking around Hogwarts, watching students and seeing the talking, moving pictures and bumping into ghosts. As you pass by, some NPCs will throw a couple of phrases in your direction or play a piece of music; this makes the world feel alive. It’s a huge world with more to offer as you go. It also shows how much effort, dedication and passion Avalanche Software put into the game. Hogwarts Legacy is a labour of love in every detail.

When I started playing Cuisineer for this review, it took a while for the game to grow on me. I was going to score it lower, but after spending more time with the game, I have revised my score. Looking after the restaurant is fantastic, addictive, and enjoyable. The fighting in the dungeons is frantic, but I like that I can choose when to go dungeon crawling.

All in all, Buddy and Friends on Halloween is a wholesome experience for youngsters and adults alike. I don’t have any complaints about the game, except it’s short since there are only six puzzles. However, you can have a relaxing time puzzling for less than the price of a cup of coffee. The music, jigsaws and the final images combined set the scene for a spooktacular time.
