Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Reviews
Mario Kart games have always been system sellers and for good reason. Mario Kart 8, with its antigravity mechanics, 200cc mode and expanded roster, is one of the most complete racers on any Nintendo platform. If the offering wasn’t tantalising enough, players are also able to get an additional Booster Pass DLC that doubles the tracks from 48 to 96 and can be picked up through the e-shop with the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is not perfect by any stretch, the battle mode can get in the bin, and the rubber banding from last to first is a constant pain. Let’s not forget the staple online multiplayer that takes forever to load up, but we still have sublimely designed tracks with controls that are as on-point as you can get with a racer and is well worth picking up… if you haven’t already.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an exceptional game that offers countless hours of gameplay, featuring a vast selection of characters and courses to choose from, thanks to its Booster Course Pass DLC. The only feature that seems to be lacking in this game is the two-person kart from Mario Kart: Double Dash. Whatever the future holds for the series, it will have a hard time surpassing the entertainment value and quality of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
the definitive edition of the definitive karting game
Nintendo have succeeded again at creating an addicting gameplay experience that is just a blast to do with friends. I’ve invited my brother around to just chill and play this game with and it always puts a smile on our faces. Thanks to this being on the Switch I’ve had a lot of opportunity to use the handheld mode (yes one of those places being the toilet). It’s just so exciting to play a HD game like Mario Kart on the train without any sacrifices made towards performance or visuals. Overall this game brings forward the existing formula onto a platform that’s begging for it. I’ve put a ton of use into it and there’s never really anything negative to say towards the actual game itself. It’s always just been the online that Nintendo struggles to improve.
When it comes to the crunch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe delivers with aplomb. Its already stunning visuals from the Wii U version are given a jaw-dropping upgrade and the revamped battle mode alongside the ingeniously crafted race tracks and the ability to play Mario Kart in 720p on the go or 1080p docked makes it an even more compelling reason for all Switch owners to buy a copy. The karts run as smooth as ever and with hundreds of thousands of people to play against online, you’ll never be short of a real challenge.
Nintendo has hit a home run with their re-release, knowing exactly which elements to fix and which to keep. This game is a must-have for your library.
Online multiplayer is a lot of fun again in Mario Kart 8 but does not offer enough for people that already had the WiiU release
I'm just going to say it right now, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe is a 10/10 game. Does it have its issues? Of course but I don't believe any game is issue free but if a game can keep you entertained for this long, and will continue to do so for many more years to come then it's a 10/10 game in my opinion. If you have never played Mario Kart 8 before then please go out and buy a Switch if you don't own one already, and enjoy playing one of the best games of the last decade.
In the world of digital kart racing, Mario is king
If you own a Nintendo Switch there is absolutely no excuse to not go and pick up Mario Kart 8 Deluxe right now. Even if you put an insane amount of time into the game when it came out on the Wii U, just the fact that you can jump into a race wherever, whenever and with whoever you want makes this a no-brainer. The smart steering and auto acceleration mean everyone will be able to enjoy. If you are still deciding whether or not the Switch is for you, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe might very well be the system seller you are looking for.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe gives players the full package right from the starting line. With an enormous roster of both characters and raceways to select from MK8 Deluxe brings over all of the content from the Wii U edition of the game and then goes and adds more content. While those wanting the single player experience might not find too much to race for, as a multiplayer title this is a great one to challenge your friends to.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is exactly the kind of experience that Nintendo Switch needs and switch-buyers want; compact, seamless and neverendingly fun.

Nintendo provides Switch owners the opportunity to play one of the best games on the Wii U with several new enhancements, characters, and modes that makes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe arguably the best entry in the franchise since Mario Kart 64. This updated version of the fun Wii U title only improves the experience and is well worth every Switch owners time and money.
Mario Kart 8 is a hallmark title and should be added to your Switch without a second thought.
We loved Mario Kart 8 when it released. We scored it a nine out of ten and felt that was the start of the Wii U's strongest run. With so few titles released for the Switch so far, I admit I was a bit wary about one of Nintendo's biggest early games being a rehash. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is more than just some graphic tweaks and a couple of pieces of DLC however, and fans of Nintendo's premier racing franchise will find plenty to like about this new iteration.
Everything the Wii U version was, plus a lot of what was missing.
At its core, not much has changed in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe; it's still the same hectic, rage-inducing karting experience from four years ago. The new additions make the game easier to access to those on the casual side of the spectrum while keeping things fresh for experts.
If you think of the Nintendo Switch as a portable, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an incredible leap for the series compared to Mario Kart 7 on 3DS. If the Nintendo Switch is your home console, then Mario Kart 8 Deluxe offers the same great experience as it did on Wii U with some added perks of battle mode and a resolution uptick. The art of racing is nearly perfect making Mario Kart 8 Deluxe a must buy for any Switch owner, but we still feel the game lacks balance at the higher competitive levels as some characters simply outperform others.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes the franchise to a new level, and makes further argument that the Switch is a fantastic portable console.
