Resident Evil 2 Reviews
An amazing remake that shows how games should be updated for the modern era. However the second playthrough feels lackluster and leaves the player on a sour note.
Capcom seems to know exactly what is going on regarding Resident Evil, but they are probably still afraid of their history to some extent.

Resident Evil 2 Remake, Capcom's new take on its 1998 survival horror masterpiece, does some things right, but it gets the most important things wrong.
Resident Evil 2 is a solid remake with great visuals and satisfying gameplay. Having said that this remake suffers from a disappointing soundtrack.
An essential piece of the Resident Evil canon.
Plenty of value if you’re a survival-horror/horror fan, or just a Resident Evil fan, but for mine -- a brand new experience would have been more welcome.
Recreating Resident Evil 2 20 years later was no easy task but Capcom pulled it off. Resident Evil 2 was handled with love and care and it shows. 2019's Resident Evil 2 is a wonderful Survival Horror that is both terrifying and fun to play. Fans old and new will have a great time with the game. Our only, and minor, complaint is that we wish the remake added more new story content to the original storyline. But other than that, Capcom did the original game justice.

Capcom returns to Raccoon City with Resident Evil 2, a remake of the 1998 classic!
Capcom's remake is a spectacularly gory game that brings a classic in line with horror titles of today, and only at the loss of some of the original's beloved goofiness.Chris Priestman
Capcom hasn't gone to any great lengths with its updated PS5 version of Resident Evil 2, offering fans and newcomers two imperfect graphical modes to choose from. Very speedy load times will have you immersed in a flash, though, and the support for the PS5's adaptive triggers adds another extra wrinkle on top. Resident Evil 2 is still every bit as good as it was three years ago; this PS5 version simply gives you the chance to experience it all over again with further shine.
It only took 22 years of soul searching, but Resident Evil has finally found itself. The series has from the beginning shifted in tone, scale, and action that it's never been entirely clear what Resident Evil should be. Is it a first-person thriller? A campy survival spook out? A cooperative blast ‘em up where T-rexes...
An impressive reimagining of one of the series' most well loved games
Replacing a beloved game classic from scratch is not an easy task, but Capcom succeeds. Resident Evil 2 was well worth all the wait.
Resident Evil 2 might be one of the most accomplished remakes of the generation.
While Resident Evil 2 could have bettered its story structure for 2019, there’s no denying that Capcom has delivered an impressive remake fully worthy of its title.
Resident Evil 2 is an absolutely essential experience for fans of survival horror. We're not yet at the point where we can confidently recommend purchasing a cloud version of the game on Switch if you've got access to a native version on another platform (and as the old-school gamers we are, we may never reach that point), but given that we encountered next to no streaming-related hitches during our time with it, this is a more-than-acceptable choice if it's the only one available to you. Fans waited years for a remake of Resident Evil 2, and it's safe to say that the wait was well and truly worth it.
A beautifully made and reverent take on the original game that works both as a remake and a completely new game.
Resident evil is an icon in the gaming horror genre, with its remake doing so much to bring it back into the spotlight. This review however is for the 2nd and 3rd installments. I am going to be honest here, I never played RE1 to completion. I didn't play the remake either, I started with RE2 and man was I impressed. I wasn't into the horror survival games like most, but I always respected it. So how well do the remakes stack up, lets break it down.
This version of Resident Evil 2 does what every remake should do; it retains what made the original great while rethinking the aspects that didn’t age as well. The remake gives players a chance to explore an absolute classic that definitely hasn’t aged all that well, and it’s a great nostalgia trip for fans of the series.
