NieR: Automata Become as Gods Edition Reviews
It isn’t that the story is nihilistic or sad. It isn’t that the second and third playthroughs see the gameplay lean heavily into a hacking minigame that’s not interesting enough to justify its ubiquity. It’s the intersection of poor pacing, info dumps, pretentiousness, frustrating character development, and countless other issues that drags down Nier: Automata and drowns all of its potential in a lake. All for nothing—I don’t feel sad, or empty, or moved. If anything, I feel angry at having wasted 38 hours on a story that teases questions of existence but makes a hard left turn away from those interesting topics into forced angsty-teenager drama. Nier: Automata could have been a brilliant game on so many levels, and I truly loved it for 10-20 hours. Then I watched it eat crayons while basking in unearned self-indulgence and realized that it’s not the modern classic I thought.
NieR: Automata is a masterclass action game with deep RPG mechanics, and a beautiful open world. While it's held back by a weak narrative and a clunky game format that mandates replaying hours of content, it offers a wide variety of enjoyable experiences that make it well worth the asking price.
NieR: Automata is unlike anything else you can play on Xbox One - all the best bits of Devil May Cry or Bayonetta mixed into a narrative that tastes like what you'd get if Lewis Carroll wrote Ghost in the Shell. A thought-provoking, self-aware romp. Recommended.
But in short it is a game that you must play; there is no other possible recommendation for a work that has managed to enamor even the most detached of the genre.

If you still haven't played NieR: Automata then this Become as Gods Edition is a great excuse to finally get your hands on Yoko Taro's latest stylish action-packed tale.
As good as it was on PS4,, but with a bit more content and cheaper. A win-win situation despite its delay.

NieR:Automata: BECOME AS GODS Edition is an amazing experience and it's that much better on Xbox One X with this enhanced offering.
NieR: Automata has been one of the special titles of the last few years and its experience can remain in your mind for a long time. Some minor flaws have caused the game to be a short distance from a masterpiece, but nevertheless, the present title is one of the best of this generation. Thanks to the Become as Gods Edition version, Xbox One fans can also enjoy experiencing this quality game.

In spite of all the odds against Yoko Taro's career, he has finally delivered a true masterpiece that finally delivers on all fronts, including gameplay. Environmental detail aesthetics lacking aside, Nier: Automata is an unbelievable game and one that just might make even the most stone cold hearted gamers well up into a weepy emotional mess. This is a landmark in storytelling that is one that embraces the fact it is a videogame and does not try to imitate film like the way most story-driven titles do. This is bold and weird without being pretentious, but most importantly it knows how to be a fun videogame thanks to master class action game design. While the extra DLC content is not terribly interesting and the enhancements for Xbox One X are just slight, Nier Automata: Become as Gods Edition stands as technically the best way to play it.
There's no more excuses. You should play NieR: Automata.
One of the best games of this generation (and one of the best action rpgs ever) finally comes to Xbox One, in a slightly refined version and with a price cut: do we really need to recommend it once more?

NieR: Automata Become as Gods Edition is the definitive version, especially for those with an Xbox One X. The strong combat system makes for a fun experience, one that is enhanced by multiple endings of varying amounts of importance. Combine this with a complete adventure, one that includes the expansion, and it makes for a solid offering. Sure, it might not be on par with previous titles, such as Bayonetta or Vanquish, nut NieR: Automata still proves to be one of the best action games of this generation.
NieR Automata is now available for Xbox One, and this news should be enough, on its own, to get all microsoft console owners to purchase the ticket. The work of Platinum Games directed by Yoko Taro is an explosion of virtuosity mixed with artistic suggestions of various kinds, which draw as much from the video game industry as from cinema and the best science fiction literature; the whole thing is amalgamated in a playful formula as solid as it is courageous, which continues to find its weakest points in an end game too poor for an action RPG and in a technical sector that lends its side to some drop in performance in the face of such adrenaline-pumping and spectacular gameplay. The Become as Gods Edition on Xbox introduces many small improvements to the defects outlined so far, bringing to the shelves of the users of the Redmond giant a definitive and more refined version in relation to the original.

There is a ton to see and do in Nier: Automata. Talking about much of it does it a disservice to the player.
The sequel to Yoko Taro's cult hit is a beautifully frenetic hack-and-slasher with an engrossing and layered story.
A fantastic mix of explosive action and thoughtful storytelling, that results in one of the most unpredictable and ambitious action role-players of the modern era.
Nier Automata finally arrives to Xbox One, including every DLC released, and with improved resolution for Xbox One X. It is one of the greatest J-RPG of the generation: difficult, rewarding and with great characters.

Nier is an affecting game that entertains you but also makes you question your beliefs about who is the hero and the villain.
NieR Automata is one of those special games, one of the ones that advance the medium and that we receive very occasionally to remind us why we love video games. A masterpiece that must be played almost out of obligation.
