Celeste Reviews
Celeste is a surprise masterpiece. Its 2D platforming is some of the best and toughest since Super Meat Boy, with levels that are as challenging to figure out as they are satisfying to complete.
For the first time in ages, I have absolutely nothing to complain about. Celeste was everything I'd hoped for and then some. I'm not saying this is the best video game I've ever played. It's much too early to start declaring things like that. What I am saying is that this is an essential gaming experience. Everything this team set out to do they accomplished. If you have any love for indie games, you're about to fall head over heels. These people have created something very close to perfection.
Celeste is a true masterpiece of the genre and an excellent example of what a perfect level design is. Exquisite gameplay and a beautiful story make this game one of the best surprises of the modern era. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-ldb4'); });

Simply put, Celeste is a tour de force.
A sensational platformer with an important story at its heart. Celeste is engaging, rewarding, and reminds us that the reward is worth the hard journey.
Celeste is an exemplary amalgamation of style, mechanics and character. A devilishly brilliant action platformer with enough skill required to excite genre purists and the speed running community, while at the same time featuring a breakdown of gameplay elements to customize and cater for all audiences. While the game mechanically is great, if familiar, the art style and narrative are truly special, showing both a visual and emotional range and depth that will resonate and inspire. Celeste is the absolute peak of personal exploration and discovery on Nintendo Switch.
Fans of tricky platformers will find much to love in the game's design, but it's also a perfect starting point for anyone new to the genre — perhaps even those actively averse to it. In short, it's a bit of a masterpiece.
Celeste is the best precision platformer in years, but it's also a game about the figurative mountains we all struggle with, and that's what makes it truly special.
In an industry with so many passionate titles, Celeste stands tall as one of the best. Its vision is flawlessly executed with excellent gameplay and presentation from top to bottom.
Even from an objective standpoint, I honestly can't think of a part of Celeste I didn't like.
What separates it from the pack and makes it more of a platformer pinnacle are the other parts of the whole: the layers of accessibility, the engaging story, and the charming presentation. All of those pieces gelled together in a spectacular way, in a way that led to me adoring this game much more than I thought. Celeste is magical and beautiful, mostly thanks to its brilliantly designed levels, but it becomes transcendent thanks to everything else.
Unique, beautiful, highly challenging, and emotional, Celeste is an excellent game, and a must-play for even non-platformer fans.
Celeste is by all means a perfect game. Perfect level design, great story and enjoyable mechanisms all make this game a must have experience.

Celeste is a game that lends itself to an easy joke. It is simply heavenly. The level design is fantastic, artistically breathtaking and playable. It is difficult, a lot, especially after the next lap, but tremendously satisfying. Explain why '' indie '' exists.

A charming precision platformer with a pleasant story about mental health. Gorgeous graphics, beautiful music, and fantastic platforming had me coming back for more despite my thousand deaths.
I would feel disheartened, but Celeste has taught me, in a short time, not to feel this way. The game has guided me, through Madeline, to strive for my goals, to take time and breathe, to take chances and venture out of my comfort zone. The story that eventually plays out is a powerful hit to the solar-plexus and is very welcome in the current field of video games.
All of these factors blend together to form an instant classic. Celeste is a triumph and offers a staggering amount of content for its asking price.
I’m not sure I’ll ever truly finish Celeste. I still have a couple of B-Sides to complete and the C-Sides are likely beyond my skill level. Assist mode is there if I need it, but I’m not ready to admit defeat yet. Neither am I ready for Celeste to be over. I’ll be dipping back into this masterpiece for many months to come.
One of the best platformers you'll ever play. The story is also equally superb.
Celeste is the complete package with well crafted gameplay, a unique presentation, and a touching story—one of the best games of 2018
