I appreciate Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure and what it sets out to do, as the concept is great and some puzzles are thought-provoking.
I like the concept behind SCHiM and the artistic direction, but certain elements of it frustrated me.
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is a release held together by sentiment and atmosphere, partly because that aspect of the game is so good and partly because the remainder of the game is so devoid of merit.
Magical Delicacy provides a tranquil and cozy cooking-themed Metroidvania experience but will not set any watermark for the genre.
The presentation in Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus is immaculate and combat is satisfying, but inconsistent platforming sours the experience.
Tavern Talk is comfy and satisfying with a few fun twists, but won't challenge your palette too much.
While I personally really like the combat, characters, and presentation, the grid exploration and parts of the story can feel weak.
SunnySide has some rather ambitious ideas for the farming sim RPG genre, adding turn-based combat, robust romance, and building. However, it falls short in every elements of execution, from how poorly the game runs right now to the restrictive dating system.
Trails through Daybreak is a triumph for both long-time fans and newcomers to the series. For veterans, it builds upon and expands nearly every aspect that makes the series great, from its intricate storytelling to its deep character development and strategic gameplay. For new players, while it’s a challenge to dive into such a complex series, the game makes a commendable effort to provide an accessible starting point into the rich world and lore without feeling overwhelmed.
Tsukihime: A piece of blue glass moon is a beautiful game with an amazingly rich story, colorful cast of characters, and a smooth localization.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble is a welcome return to new ideas for the franchise, and does manage to avoid inferior minigame replication disappointment by… not replicating the old minigames at all! The choice to ape (pun intended, pun always intended, you know us) Fall Guys’ multiplayer formula isn’t the best, but there’s some fun here. And the main mode is enjoyable too!
Times & Galaxy feels like it blends what you’d expect from adventure games with a sort of newspaper management simulation.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree builds upon Elden Ring's narrative to weave new mysteries for players to uncover.
While #BLUD does have some rough edges, this is a fun little adventure that’s worth looking into if you think you’d click with its tone.
Elegant to behold but clunky to control, Homeworld 3 is difficult to get in to but fascinating all the same.
MultiVersus could have been a multi-platform answer to Super Smash Bros. However, the staggering cost of characters locks much of the fun behind paywalls or extensive grinding which will turn most players off.
Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge is a letdown, as it doesn’t feel compelling or rewarding to collect frogs, acquire money, or build up the frog sanctuary.
The idea behind Umbraclaw and its character designs is amazing, but know going in it can be challenging and demand perfection.
The atmospheric horror is sure to make shivers run down your spine, but it fails to maintain its momentum.
While the visuals of RKGK could use some polish, its addictive movement mechanics are up there with some of the best.
