Critic Reviews for Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection
An excellent remaster duology that's an interesting reminder of early online console gaming and one of the most feature-packed Star Wars games ever made.
Aspyr Media's remastered collection does too little to keep the first two Battlefront games relevant for modern audiences.
Star Wars Battlefront: Classic Collection brings back two milestones in Star Wars playable history and it's great to have them available on all consoles. Whether you get a lot of value and fun from them beyond nostalgia and fan service is another matter: the absence of crossplay and flimsy online play limit their long-term potential.

At the end of the day that's the chief purpose of these remasters: to offer fans a way to play these older Star Wars Battlefront titles on current consoles, with slightly spruced up visuals, and the option to play online. They're still inherently rough around the edges and play a little clunky, but the Classics Collection does what it says on the tin, giving these beloved games a quick dip in the Bacta tank instead of attempting to forge them anew.
Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection might not feature any updated visuals, but it features tons of content and enjoyable battles.
The irony is that Aspyr has done a nice job with remastering the visuals in both games and we enjoyed seeing the results. But the reality is that these games often feel old, they're extremely buggy, and the online play is hit-and-miss. This should have been a slam dunk. Instead, playing Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection made us feel sad. If Aspyr can fix the slew of technical issues, this might one day be worth picking up on Switch. Until that happens, though, the Force isn't with this one.
If you remember playing the original Battlefront I and II, you'll love playing them again on new generation consoles. They've added Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress as well as multiple new maps that never made it into the originals. This definitely makes it worth it for any fan of these games or those wanting to see what all the fuss was about back in 2004/2005. Plus, with the ability to play multiplayer with friends and randoms, it's going to be just like the simulations once again!
Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is a reminder of how great these games were at the time they released, but it ultimately fails to do anything better for the players than the original releases did. As much as it breaks my heart, I find it hard to recommend this game to anyone in its current state.
