Critic Reviews for Transient
The game's excellent presentation goes wonderfully with its surprising amount of variety. The game might not be scary, but it is thought-provoking and unique, which makes it more than worth a look from narrative adventure fans.
Transient creates great settings but doesn't utilize either one very well. Its story should have been its most substantial aspect but instead ends up being its weakest. Through its puzzles are solid, the game holds your hand when solving them, leaving almost zero need for critical thought. What ends up being the best part of the game are the mini-games that transport you to other titles that Transient took inspiration from.
Transient is quite a pretty game that manages to mix and match cyberpunk vibes from Observer with some quirky Lovecraftian stuff. But the lack of a coherent storyline, interesting puzzles, and a better motivation for main protagonist to dive deep into past events is sadly hard to ignore. Plus all those references to some old retro classics seems rather out of place here.

Transient is an ambitious horror game which fans of H. P. Lovecraft will appreciate for its overarching themes and sneaky references.
Transient Extended Edition is a great concept, but the implementation is flawed on every level. The art style is stunning, but the graphical engine can’t keep the pace. The game world is truly different, but there is not too much to do in it. The puzzles are too simple and feel like a filler so you wouldn’t call the game just a walking simulator.
Transient is an another well done tribute to Lovecraft from the studio formerly known as Zoetrope Interactive. But even though the world building is solid as always, the game is sadly too short and the ending too abrupt to elevate the game to anything beyond an above average title.

Transient isn’t a long game, and its gameplay tends to take a backseat to its storytelling, but if you’re looking for a cyberpunk mystery or a cosmic horror story, Transient blends them remarkably well to create an engrossing journey.
