Bayonetta 2 Reviews
In many ways, 'Bayonetta 2' comes close to being a masterclass in hack and slash style, but is invariably held back by some of the genre's usual flaws.
The rhythm of combat remains the same, though it's hard to complain when it's riffing off such a heady beat, where chimed enemy attacks are lithely dodged into slo-mo pugilism, where impossible combos culminate with a 20-foot boot weaved from hair crashing from the heavens and where spinning amidst the avalanche of colour and cartoon violence is Bayonetta herself, stopping only briefly to wink at a player exhausted by the unrelenting joy of it all. Bayonetta 2's biggest disappointment may be that it's an iterative sequel, but it's not such a problem when it's iterating on genius.
Bayonetta 2 builds on everything that made the original great, and delivers one of the best action games of the year.
Playing through Bayonetta 2 on Nintendo Switch allowed me to relive some of the most exhilarating, action-packed, hack-and-slash moments from the last decade of gaming. The framerate improvements alone make it a better experience than the Wii U version, and the amiibo-activated costumes at least put a fun spin on it even if there's no substantial new content for returning players. It's disappointing that the Switch version can't manage more than 720p on a big screen, but with that said, Bayonetta 2's fantastic art style holds up well.
A fantastic sequel and one of the greatest action games ever made, and now available on a format that people actually own.
More of the same is absolutely fine, as Bayonetta delivers her trademark action in true style. This sequel takes too long to get going and can feel harshly unfair, but when it's at its peak, the action is breathtaking.
A fantastic sequel, whose improvements may be relatively subtle but are more than enough to confirm Bayonetta 2 as one of the greatest action games ever made.
Crazy moments, smooth combat, and seemingly endless options help this sequel match its predecessor
Bayonetta 2's blatant over-sexualization puts a big dent in an otherwise great game
Bayonetta 2 is a classic in the making, and one of the finest, most wonderfully insane action games ever made.
Platinum Games' sequel delivers nuanced, non-stop action that stands among the best in its genre.
Bayonetta 2 represents a master class in over-the-top set pieces, filled with dozens of giatn bosses and absurd situations to test your reflexes.
Bayonetta 2 is the high-flying return of everyone's favorite Umbra Witch. Platinum Games pushes to the Wii U to its limit with fast action, magnificent vistas, and huge bosses. The addition of the original Bayonetta just pushes the entire package over the top. If you're a Devil May Cry fan, this is a must-buy.
If you're an action gamer with a Wii U or even an older Nintendo fan with patience enough for Bayonetta's Moon River remix soundtrack, then summon the strength to face this bad hair day with both guns up. Actually, make it all four guns up. Bayonetta manages to pull it off without tucking her ankles behind her head, though you might strain something if you try it her way.
When Bayonetta came out in 2010, I thought it was nearly perfect. Four years later and Platinum hasn't lost its edge with Bayonetta 2. It's just as stylish and as fun as ever, and a must-buy for action fans who own a Wii U.
From its peerless combat to its outlandishly entertaining world, Bayonetta 2 is a triumph. Platinum Games has created a classic so thoroughly excellent that it can't be ignored. Action games don't get better than this.
Bayonetta 2 is one of the best "hack´n slash" games you can play in any console. It delivers intense combat, charming characters and non stop fun. On the down side, Switch version is almost identical to the Wii U release.

Though it's easy to dismiss Bayonetta as a shallow male fantasy, that would be doing this game a disservice, as it proves to be one of the most adrenaline-pumping action games of the year.
Bayonetta 2 is, along with its predecessor, one of the best stylish action games ever. The Switch version doesn't add much, but if you haven't played it yet, you have to.
