Critic Reviews for Jack Jeanne
Jack Jeanne is a sensational visual novel full of singing, dancing and drama. If you like rhythm games and hunky boys then you're in for a treat.
Jack Jeanne is a compellingly original otome visual novel experience with rhythm action sequences.
) I don't think the backlog will ever let me see every suitor's ending in Jack Jeanne, but the ones I did reach were worth the extreme amounts of effort I had to put in. And it's nice that we have a proof of concept for "replicating physical performance in a rhythm game" like I asked for last month. Still, hopefully there's a nice long break before the next rhythm novel because I definitely need one.
Thankfully, that didn’t miss the mark. Jack Jeanne is a celebration of the finest qualities of theatre, held within a visual novel that’s enjoyable to read. It has some distinctive, evocative art, and some minigames that help make the overall experience even more engaging. Yes, sure, future generations might not study these plays in school, as they do Shakespeare and Chekov, but the plays-within-the-game framing allows the writers to explore a love for the form, and that passion and respect infuses every second of the experience.
"Jack Jeanne brings a simple and relatively cliche story, but it'll definitely please the fans of theatrical productions. Unfortunately, though it tries to reinvent the visual novel genre, the game is way too focused on the simulation and rhythmic elements, leaving the narrative aspect to the sidelines, something that, in my opinion, made the gameplay dull over time. Overall, the newest BROCCOLI port in the west is entertaining and handles the audiovisual presentation well with a remarkable dub and soundtrack and polished art signed by Sui Ishida, but, when weighing the pros and cons, I did not feel I was playing a visual novel.

Jack Jeanne is an incredible Switch otome game, packed with lovable characters, fantastic music, and a touching story.
Players looking for an epic, sweeping romance or a bevy of boys just dying to be your arm candy should invest their time and efforts elsewhere. Instead, if you’re interested in watching a young woman pursue her dreams against all odds and actually being lifted up and encouraged in the process, then may I invite you to the curtain call of Jack Jeanne. It really is something to behold.
