Asphalt Legends Unite will possibly be underestimated for its mobile tradition and free-to-play monetization format. But those who give it a chance will find a visually well-polished game with mechanics that shine in their objective simplicity, as well as an old-school style that has been missing in the mainstream market.

65 / 100 - Fate Seeker 2
Jul 22, 2024

Fate Seeker II is a game that takes you to the wuxia universe with a good premise, but that ends up having its positive points overshadowed by the problems of performance, narrative rhythm and dull exploration. Despite being a single-player title, the game follows a structure similar to that of an MMORPG and with mechanics that, even though they are interesting, tend to tire or even frustrate the player.

70 / 100 - Bloodhound
Jul 19, 2024

Mindful of its disdain for storytelling, Bloodhound is everything fans of a good boomer shooter might hope for, but it doesn't go much further than that. With some controversial strings and design choices, the game doesn't seem to have reached its maximum, which doesn't override the solidity of its extremely objective mechanics.

After more than two decades, we have received part of the history of Tsukihime with the remake Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-. From beginning to end, it's an engaging, interesting, sad, tragic, and very, very beautiful story.

Good combat is what stands out the most in Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn by A44 Games. Although the universe is interesting to discover and has a decent exploration system, there are occasional problems that prevent the game from standing out even more.

Darkest Dungeon II is quite distinct from the first one and it is essential that players are aware of this. It's a game that brings good new ideas, despite having a very frustrating "artificial limitation". The affinity system, the brutal and complex combat system, in addition to the better development of the narrative are positive aspects that justify the investment in this universe. However, it's a shame that you have to spend a lot of time unlocking new features for the game to demonstrate its full potential.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Sweep the Board! It may even seem like a product dedicated to fans of the celebrated Oni hunter franchise, but it ends up being a poorly balanced copy of other games in the genre, without much to offer other than lukewarm fun for lazy family afternoons.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a compilation of good ideas, elevated by the excellent setting, delivering a very entertaining title for fans of Japanese mythology and a clear love letter from the developers to it.

Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is stunning, atmospheric, fun, and challenging. It's a great metroidvania that, even without being too original, uses the right inspirations to paint like few others a Japanese fable of contemplative beauty and rewarding agility.

60 / 100 - SCHiM
Jul 15, 2024

Quiet and aesthetically pleasing, SCHiM has good ideas about the use of shadows in 3D platforming, but doesn't make efficient use of them enough to stand out as it could.

Overall, Dawntrail is a great expansion that features a story with ups and downs, but that sets the stage well for what could become the new saga of Final Fantasy XIV.

70 / 100 - Capes
Jul 3, 2024

Capes is a good turn-based strategy game that brings some interesting ideas, but it stumbles on an imbalance in its combat and a lack of charismatic characters that prevent its story from achieving everything it could be.

The Land Beneath Us is inspired by good games to deliver an engaging and fun experience, with a cool narrative and addictive gameplay.

Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked Collection has an excellent game (Rocket Knight Adventures) accompanied by two others not as good. The extra features that the collection offers are nice additions, but the price charged for the package at its release is high.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak is a darker and more interesting take on one of the best JRPG franchises of all time. The gameplay additions enrich the experience, but what really makes it so remarkable is the excellent cast and storytelling that lives up to the series' fame.

70 / 100 - Neosprint
Jun 27, 2024

NeoSprint is honest and, at the same time, quite complete for what one expects from a reimagining of a classic Atari property. Without reinventing the wheel or proposing something really new, it's fun, light and totally wrapped in nostalgia for less complicated times.

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is not only the definitive version of Jade's adventure, but an example of how remasters of games from that era can feature relevant improvements and add extras to celebrate the historical legacy of these works. Some more dragged aspects have not aged very well and remind us of the age of the game, but the charisma of the adventure and the good use of the opening of the compact world still make it deserve this well-cared for return.

65 / 100 - Frogun Encore
Jun 25, 2024

Frogun Encore features versatile grappling hook mechanics and local co-op for two people to have fun together. However, the brevity of the campaign and the deaths from parallax-induced falls can detract from the experience. Those who will benefit the most will be speedrun enthusiasts, willing to perfect the paths and find shortcuts in levels that seem to have been made for it.

To say that Road to Elysium is more of the same as The Talos Principle 2 is high praise. We have more beautiful settings, more reflective dialogues of captivating characters and, above all, dozens more creative puzzles that are a great satisfaction to solve and prove the versatility of the original mechanics. Even without a big new mystery to uncover in the story, the quantity and quality of the new content make the DLC a sure recommendation for anyone who enjoyed the base game.
